The reason I didn't start a new thread round yesterday like I'd planned to. XP Noctis is a free space flight simulator 'game' in which you can fly from star system to star system and explore planets. The plot, as far as it has one, is that you're one of the last members of a cat-like race called Felysians, whose civilization mysteriously disappeared many years ago. Now all that's left of them are the stardrifters, who explore and catalog the galaxy's stars and planets, and if you're lucky, you might find some abandoned ruins on a planet.
The real point of the game is just flying around to see what you can see. There are about 70 billion stars in the galaxy, and almost all of them have unique, explorable planets. And often, the view from space is very pretty, as well.
The current version is Noctis IV, though I use Noctis IV CE (or NICE), which includes some extra features and is the only version that works on Vista. Noctis V is supposedly still in development, but nothing's come of it yet. The site is here: http://anywherebb.com/bb/layout/html/doors/local/frameset_noctis.html
And now, some screenshots.
A couple of gas giants, seen from the roof of my spaceship:

A quartz planet with an oxygen atmosphere (common in this galaxy, though unheard of in our own): https://img.photobucket.com/albums/v694/Silver_Storyteller/Noctis/00000010.jpg
And a Felysian (Earth-like, life-supporting) planet from space!

A triple star system!

I took a couple pictures from the quartz planet and triple star system planet, but they seem to have disappeared. Instead, here's some pictures from the Felysian planet (though again, some seem to be mising.
The thing in the middle is a rabbit-like animal; there are birds as well, which you can supposedly hunt, though I've never managed to catch one.

Something tells me this isn't natural...

I'm not sure what this is, but it's still odd.
